flowerI am an experienced therapist based at Cornerstone Counselling & Therapy centre. I work privately as a relational pyschotherapist and I am also the Centre Co-ordinator. I enjoy my work as a therapist I am committed to helping my clients. I believe that a good strong therapeutic relationship is vital to the therapy process and that everyone is unique in their way of working through their presenting issue.

Having worked within centres such at South Yorkshire Eating Disorder Service, Together Women Probation Project and currently at Sheffield Rape and Sexual Abuse Counselling Service, I have experience of working with a variety of clients with many issues as well as differing coping mechanisms. I specialise in working with people who have experienced Trauma, Attachment Issues, Dissociation, Psychosomatic Disorders (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, M.E, Fibromyalgia and Body Pain) I have extensive experience of working with destructive coping mechanisms such as Drug, Alcohol and Sexual Addictions as well as Anxiety related issues such as Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and Eating Disorders.

I have training and interest in different forms of counselling and therefore take an integrative approach in my work. This involves working with several distinct models of counselling and psychotherapy and allows me to adapt my techniques to the personal problems that are unique to the individual. For example I have training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy which I use to identify unhelpful patterns of thinking and behaviour and to work with the client to resolve these issues. I have experience of other approaches such as Psychosynthesis, which can be helpful in understanding the different parts of us. I find this particularly helpful if someone is struggling to understand why they act the way they do, especially if their behaviour is self destructive.

I believe that if we can build a trusting relationship and focus on what feels wrong for you, we will be able to work successfully together.
